Farmer Sells 35000 Bushels of Corn for Train Load

Tama independent school district directors notified the state that they will appeal the bus route case to the supreme court. Paul Norris said the Tama board filed its appeal bond in district court at Toledo after Judge Tankersley ruled that ODT conservation limits do not relieve the board of its duty to transport pupils living over two and a half miles from school.

John M Grimm, 77, a prominent Cedar Rapids attorney and former Iowa supreme court justice, died at his home. Christmas Seal Breaks Record in Washington Campaign
Response to the sale of Christmas seals in Washington has exceeded that of any year. Mrs. R. R. Noonan sent out 1100 letters and almost all returned. So far $682 has been raised in Washington, about $60 above last year, with out of town totals from Richmond, West Chester and Crawfordsville also higher than before. County sales may reach about $1,700, with over two thirds kept in Washington County for tuberculosis work. Uses include screening healthy people, assisting men rejected for TB, rehabilitation for TB patients, public education, and funding national TB research. Rev. F. W. Eastwood and Mrs. Noonan praise cooperation and aim to close by year’s start.
