Fire damages Ottumwa parade venue and local hotel
A fire tore through the ground floor of Hotel Ottumwa after burning the parade site and caused extensive smoke damage to a drug store. The Chair of Commerce offices on the first floor were affected. Henry Snider, owner of Hotel Ottumwa and Hotel Franklin in Des Moines, estimated losses at $30,000. The parade was recently remodeled and enlarged. all hotel guests were awakened but did not depart.

Robbers Steal 160 Suits From Stanhope Store
