George P. Johnson, 35, who escaped from Schick army hospital in Clinton, is brought to Fort Dodge to face robbery with aggravation charges. Arrested Sunday in Webster City, his former home, he was the subject of a statewide search after his wife was threatened with a pistol and a car theft. He later appeared at his wife’s Webster City residence and was wounded by her nephew before army authorities took him into custody.

LeMars Elevator Blaze Causes $50,000 Loss
A Sunday fire at the Plymouth Cereal Mill in LeMars destroyed the storage elevator on the third floor with corn and oats, causing an estimated $50,000 in damage. The 75 000 bushel capacity elevator was not full, according to manager Monte Cass Jr. Machinery also suffered severe damage and Cass said losses are insured.

Manly slaying suspect bound over for grand jury
Roy C. Underwood, 42, waived preliminary hearing and was bound over to the January grand jury term in bond of 10,000 in connection with the 1982 killing of James Hill, 63, of Peoria Ill, at Manly. Chicago federal arrest of Ottumwa man on auto theft charges
Federal agents took James Oscar Rodgers, 26, Ottumwa Iowa, in Chicago on charges under the federal stolen automobile act. He had been sought since December 29 1942 for stealing a car in Rob Lakeshore and driving to Hannibal Missouri. He pleaded guilty to the St Louis theft and a federal commissioner ordered hold to the grand jury with a 5009 dollar bond.

An eight year old roan mare team sold for 237.50 at the Duncan farm sale six miles west of Columbus Junction to settle the estate of the late Robert L. Duncan. Milk cows brought 90 to 100, sows 35, shoats 17 to 18, oats 0.75 a bushel. Timothy and clover hay 8.50 a ton. A two year old tractor with steel wheels set the ceiling price.
