Washington churches unveil two Christmas programs including morning music and evening Bible school pages with choirs, solos, and a candlelight pageant directed by Ruth Foster. The Bible school program starts at 7:30 with a Youth and Adult lineup and special music from Martha Wylie Witthoft and Elouise Sorden.
Rev Milo J Phillips announces candle lighting and Christmas carol services at St Pauls churches in Valley and Washington. Services feature O Holy Night Prelude O Come All Ye Faithful and multiple carols, a Service of Lights and prayers, with a children’s program and choir offerings.
A detailed program for a Presbyterian Sunday School and Morning Worship featuring multiple classes and recitations. Names include Miss Gordon Jacqueline Lemme Janet Grat Jimmy Gorham Jerry Richards and Eva Blattner among students. Music includes hymns Silent Night Away in a Manger and Joy to the World with solos by Gwendolyn Ramseyer and Edith Gillespie. Organ and piano selections accompany worship.
The Immanuel Lutheran church hosts its annual Christmas Eve service on Sunday December 24 at 8 o clock. A program titled The Nativity by G L Wind will be presented by the Sunday school and young people with organ prelude by E J Blatter. The five part program features The Saviors Birthday Praise of Little Children We Need a Savior We Have a Savior and Only Believe with songs and recitations. The service ends with gifts prayer benediction and closing hymn Let Us All with Gladsome Voice.
The junior and intermediate departments present a Christmas program during Bible school hour. The minister delivers a Christmas sermon at worship hour. The church choir provides special music and later presents the Christmas story in song at eight o clock Sunday night.
Calvary Baptist announces a Christmas program after Sunday School which ends at 10:30. The program features Christmas carols, piano duets, and readings by the Beginners, Primary, and Junior Departments including Little Baby, Jesus Was Born in a Bethlehem, and The Child in the Manger with participants Clara Leet Jimmie Shaffer Rich ard Diddams Earnest Beenblos Carol Virginia and Clara Leet Marilyn Leet.
United Presbyterian Church hosts a Sunday 10 45 service featuring a Crean prelude The Christmas Pipes of County Clare Gaul Processional and Hymnal No 191 O Come All Ye Faithful with choir and congregation. The choir presents Dearest Jesus Gentle Mild arranged by Dickinson followed by Come Ye Children also arranged by Dickinson.
The service features a full prelude and processional with scripture lessons and hymns such as O Holy Child of Bethlehem God Loved the World and Silent Night The program spans five parts with recitations and duets and includes a closing benediction The church invites all to worship at 7 30 p m at 409 Main St Pastor J H Beiderwieden extends Christmas greetings and notes the church opens to all in a troubled world.
Friday December 22 at seven oclock the Methodist church hosts the annual Sunday school party. The children's department presents the program with nursery beginners primary and junior participants. A Christmas tree Santa Claus treats and a conclusion to the evening. Sundays Christmas worship features special music by the choir including The Angel’s Song duet Elma Rice Marjorie Phillips and solo Herbert Osincup O Babe Divine with Dr Fred E Miller delivering the sermon.
The Christian Tabernacle on South Iowa Avenue will present its annual Christmas program Sunday evening December 24 at 7 30 featuring eight episodes of panto mime and song about the Christmas Scriptures entitled GOD WITH US The program runs about an hour and a half with a Christmas offering for missionaries and treats for children.
Rev. Robert Weathers announced the Sunday school will present a Christmas program at the Church of the Nazarene Sunday evening at 8 o clock. The program features songs, recitations, duets, dramatizations, and a youth group music segment from 7:30 to 8:00 PM with the public invited.
