Two armed men robbed the Dunlap State Bank near Trenton Missouri late yesterday, forcing one employee and five customers to the floor. They loaded a sugar sack with $2300 and fled toward Trenton, prompting a search centered in the area.
The A M E church will hold a Christmas program next Wednesday evening at eight o clock. The program opens with Joy to the World and includes recitations by David Turner Leola McLaymore Ernest Turner Maurice Prooks and Lester Ballew. Violin duets and piano and instrumental solos are scheduled with closing remarks.

Iowa death toll from accidents rose to seven over 48 hours with five others injured. Causes include icy roads and snow packed streets. Victims include Walter Stokes 45 Lake View killed in a crash on an ice hill. Fred Empkie Omaha died from injuries in the same crash. Other incidents involve Marian Hurd McNeeley Dubuque Ida Glazier Mason City and a Chicago group in a Dewitt bus crash. Vergil Young St Charles hospitalized with an amputated arm from a farm shredder incident.
Five Washington boys and ten Wellman boys were initiated in Amos chapter De Molay of Washington at the Davenport anniversary conclave. Names include Ray Minick Eugene Thomas James Schmoeller Dwight Hazen Charles Berdo from Washington and Keith Wilson Walter Zillmer Charles Durian Lawrence Whetstine Donald Bidwell Donald Fleming John Fleming Clifford Monroe Lyle Wade Marlvon Wehrle from Wellman. About twenty four initiated overall. Davenport De Molay team led initiation with Davenport Masonic temple hosting and Davenport and Moline teams assisting.
Burlington high school defeated Ottumwa 15 to 14 in overtime at Burlington in a Little Six basketball game. Morrison sank a free throw in the extra period to seal the win for Burlington.
Two cars were damaged at the intersection of primary roads No 2 and No 161 east of Ainsworth. H A Pauls of Washington escaped injury. Occupants of the Wayland car were reported injured but not specified.
Normal conditions expected for December 22 to 27 across the upper Mississippi and lower Missouri valleys and northern and central Great Plains. No temperature extremes anticipated, with readings near normal and likely one or two precipitation events.
Fredonia Iowa faced loss after a night blaze that started by an explosion destroyed the Co operative store, the village's only shop. More than 100 workers from Deep Rock Oil and others labored under M Kinley of Tulsa to control the Wewoka townsite gas well. Debris removal precedes a nitroglycerin blast to create a vacuum and stop the 60 million cubic feet daily gas flow from a 3887 foot depth. The operation continues with wind shifts and city danger considered remote.
Mrs Dora Bean spent a few days at her home and returned to Ainsworth. Mrs Elizabeth Wallace traveled to Muscatine to visit relatives including her daughter Mrs Pearson. George Taylor is seriously ill with flu and several neighbors report illnesses. A newborn son George Walter Crabtree arrived December 15 confirming a family surprise. Wedding bells are hinted as a distant event.
John Elben was taken today to a Des Moines hospital for knee injury treatment. He will receive care for the next ten days.
Pleasant Hill church near Washington hosts a Monday eight o clock Christmas program with a tree Santa Claus and gifts. Choir numbers include Joy to the World Silent Night and We Grow by Giving. Beatrice Kephart reads Luke and a series of songs solos and a play conclude the program.
Mrs E D Morrison drove to Iowa City for Dunham and Priscilla Morrison and Mary Roberts University of Iowa students enjoying Christmas vacation. Miss Alice Shelangoski returned from Davenport to spend Christmas at her father Leo Shelangoski’s home. Mr and Mrs Walter H Johnson and son John Lee of Riverside shopped locally and visited his sister Florence Johnson at Nicola and Harmon's.
Cambridge Massachusetts Harvard Law School graduates from the class of 1905 now earn an average of 27732 dollars per year each, according to a survey conducted by Secretary L H Lechtworth.
Congress completed action on two Hoover requested measures and prepared to adjourn for Christmas. A drought relief loan of 45 million dollars and an 116.1 million dollar emergency construction fund move toward the president. The drought funds require a special appropriation before use. the construction grant becomes available immediately. The Senate accepted all House amendments including the local labor wage provision.
Harmony was restored at Valley Junction High School in Iowa after six football players, who had been denied letters following a walkout, publicly apologized and received their letters during a school assembly. Superintendent W H Myers approved the award after the ceremony.
Funeral services for Mrs. C. H. Pickens were conducted yesterday morning at the L. A. Jones funeral home by Dr. F. W. Eastwood. Burial followed in the Tennessee cemetery near Columbus Junction. Pallbearers named: Lester Orr, Harold Putnam, Clyde Putnam, Ed Sadel, Charles Steinmetz, and Harry McConnell.
