Sixteen members plus husbands and one guest Mrs E F Berry of Brighton met for a cooperative luncheon at Mrs Lyle Wilcox home. A Christmas program featured readings songs and piano selections with gifts exchanged and committee members noted.
Actress Virginia Gilmore stars in Marasthon Pictures thriller Close-Up the story of a secretary being sought by New York police now playing at the Fox Theatre. Gilmore says parents should not try to live their children's lives, a comment reflecting her early rebellious entry into acting.
Louisa county pupils donate 284.74 to the CROP drive announced by county superintendent John O. Mecklenburg. Grade students give 176.55 for powdered milk and 108.21 from high school pupils funds to supply 10 821 meals of relief cereal. Local school totals include Columbus Junction 82.25 Morning Sun 52.49 Wapello 44.13 Cotter 25.16 Letts 17.61 Grandview 14.92 Oakville 14.34 Wyman 12.20 and rural schools 21.55.

The Gamma Psi chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its second anniversary with a formal dinner for members and husbands at the Pines. Six thirty Wednesday evening, ten couples attended the event.
The table was decorated with Christmas appointments. After dinner, games were played under the direction of the program committee, Mrs. Richard Hotle and Mrs. Charles Berdo. Later in the evening, coffee and cake was served.
