Ted Johnson, formerly manager for Iowa Southern Utilities Co. in the northeast district, is named new head of the Washington Chamber of Commerce. He will assume duties January 2, filling the vacancy left by Bill Whittenberg’s resignation. Jim France, the president, announced the appointment.

Local probe jury finds no indictment in Mondia death
Washington County grand jury concluded no indictable offense occurred in the Nov 23 death of Michael C. Mondia of Washington after 14 hours of testimony. The report, read before Judge Harlan W. Bainter, closes the probe led by Richard Bordwell. Mondia, 28, died after a car pedestrian incident at Jack Hamilton's Clubhouse parking lot. Mondia was run over by a car driven by Shirley K. Cox, 23, of Washington. The findings remain secret.
