Lone Tree Farmer Suffocated by Falling Corn
Clarence W. Anderson aged 62 died on Friday when corn collapsed in a crib trapping him on the Victor Mueller farm near Lone Tree Iowa. He was shoveling shelled corn into a truck when the pile spilled and buried him. He had no known relatives in the area.

Father and two children die from cold in trailer
In AVENEL New Jersey a young father Stuart Keyes 33 and his children Caroline 6 and Stuart II were found dead in an unheated trailer at 22 degrees. The father crouched over the daughter while both lay on the floor. The mother Helen Keyes summoned help at 3 50 a m. Steve 4 was hospitalized in poor condition with shock and exposure while Mrs Keyes and another son were treated for exposure. The trailer had a portable heater.

Honor Karl Messer As Iowa Master Swine Producer
Twenty five Iowa farmers were named master swine producers for 1958 in recognition of outstanding efficiency in management. The honors were given at a program by the Iowa Swine Producers Assn Iowa State College Cooperative Extension Service and radio WHO Des Moines. The 25 had 653 sows last spring averaging over 26 per farm. They produced 6,647 pigs averaging 10.4 pigs per litter they weaned 9.6 and raised 9.5 to market. Honorees include Karl Messer Washington and other noted farmers from Dike Mediapolis Cedar Falls Humboldt Estherville Danville Webster City and Saint Ansgar among others.
