Laure l Robert Kline reports his junior Champagne D Argent doe placed first in her class and as best junior in the Lima Ohio rabbit show last week. A Lima breeder bought her Spotters in Dubuque Aid to Marriage Seekers business resumes after two months dormancy.
Ames Robert Bonnewell of Altoona and Elmer A Fike of Independence Mo have been awarded Lane Wells scholarships at Iowa State college, each getting 100 dollars per quarter until graduation. Bonnewell is a science senior and Fike a chemical engineering senior.
J A Peters' "Old Faithful" Sunday show failed to emit the familiar spray of gas fumes water and dirt. Digging crews had struck a subterranean gas chamber in Peters' backyard on the outskirts of Ankeny, causing spouts on Thursday Friday and Saturday and drawing curious onlookers.
Fred Silarski 17 was accidentally shot by cousin Adrian Dorsman 16 on the Ben Wolf farm while both youths fired at pigeons with a .22 rifle. Silarski, a farm hand, died after the bullet hit his forehead at close range. James Silarski 13 was present with them.

State high school music contest finals for 1940 will be held in Waterloo Fairfield Atlantic and Storm Lake with tentative dates April 25 26 and 27. Finals are split into four divisions to save travel expenses and schools may choose their competition city.
John L Morrison 85 of 316 Fourth Avenue West died at home Friday night December 8 1939. He is survived by wife Eleeta M Morrison a daughter Eleeta Adkins Borger Texas a son Loyd F Morrison Grinnell a sister Minnie Hilliard OsKaloosa two brothers H H Morrison OsKaloosa and Frank D Morrison Fowler Kansas. Funeral services will be 2 30 Monday afternoon December 11 1939. Burial in Forest Cemetery.
