Washington society enjoyed a bright spell of entertaining with a reception yesterday afternoon at Mrs. W A Wilson’s home 300 South Jackson. Nearly one hundred ladies attended and fashioned a prize by matching slips from an Evening Journal advertisement. Refreshments were served and decorations admired. Mrs Wilson was aided by her sister Mrs L D Robinson and Miss Smith.

Quiet Street Fight Near Washington National Bank
Two country youths fought briefly in front of the Washington National Bank. After a swift exchange, one knocked the other down. both fled when warned of arrest. A coal dealer, clothier, shoe man, and grocer all commented that business would suffer in the heat and colder days ahead.

Tenyearold Injured by Ax Accident in Washington
The 10 year old son of Mr and Mrs Orr in south Washington was injured when his axe struck a clothes line overhead causing a deep cut on the top of his head. A physician treated the wound. The injury is described as quite severe but not serious.
Sabbath School Session Opens with Speeches and Child Event
The meeting chaired by President D J Palmer featured welcome remarks by Rev J P Davis and a response from Rev Allen. Prof J A Barnes presented Home Study of the Sabbath School Lesson followed by discussion. Childrens meeting led by S P Howland drew about 75 pupils with a chalk talk. Evening program included songs, a talk by W C Work, and an address by C Wallace of Des Moines. Meeting closed with benediction.

The Saved from the Sea company staged to the season’s largest crowd at Graham with the Narrow Gauge special train from Winfield. The bloodthirsty drama features stabbing and hanging before a grand curtain, and the cast and scenery earned hearty applause. Graham will remain dark over a month, manager Moore says Wang and Shore Acres could play here if patrons sponsor them.
