Warn Farmers of Power Shortage in Iowa This Winter
DES MOINES Dec 9 Iowa farmers warned they must use REA electricity judiciously or rationing may be necessary in some areas. Earl F Wisdom executive secretary of the Iowa Association of REA cooperatives said farm electricity use has risen 40 to 50 percent in a year, pushing many cooperatives to peak capacity. The shortage stems from limited generating capacity and slow construction of plants, affecting REA private utilities and some municipalities.

Harry Reynolds a longtime Washington resident was taken to Washington county hospital and then moved to an Iowa City hospital for treatment of wounds described as serious and self inflicted. Police found him in a locked bathroom at 121 North Avenue DC after he had lost significant blood.
