The U S naval air station Ottumwa becomes the nations pre flight school. Cadets from Iowa City due at 1 pm today with more arriving Saturday. Public relations call it the Annapolis of the Air and the only navy pre flight school in the country. About 50 ground school and administration instructors have arrived with more to come.

Army to Move Out Of State Fairgrounds

Five Years for Theft of Clothing in Iowa City
Warren Lee Taylor a 19 year old transient was sentenced to five years in the state reformatory by District Judge P Gaffney on larceny charges. Arrested November 3 he was accused of taking clothing a wedding ring and a clarinet from an Iowa City home. He told the judge he had prior run ins with the law and said he lived in Michigan and had been married nearly two years.

Dubuque Schools Struck by Influenza and Colds
More than 2,000 pupils in Dubuque public and parochial schools were absent on Thursday due to illness. About 4,000 pupils attend each system, with Washington Junior High seeing nearly 40 percent absent. Car Rams Truck. Driver Killed Near Kellerton
Robert McChesney, 24, owner of an electric supply shop in Kellerton, died after his car struck the rear of a truck on Highway 69 five miles south of Indianola. Clarence Ott, 42, of Jefferson, drove the truck, and William Moore, 17, of Kellerton, a passenger, survived with minor injuries. McChesney suffered a fractured skull crushed chest and broken left hip and arm, and investigators suggested glare or blinding lights may have contributed.
