Antiwar Protest March Through New York Leads to City Hall

More than 2 000 marchers gathered in New York as 50 antiwar groups stage a four day protest. Police of 28 000 were alerted and one exit at East River Drive was closed while demonstrators were urged to stay on sidewalks. The rally aimed to hinder inductions at the Army center with leaders debating next steps.

Protest Action At Induction Center Draws Large Turnout

The four day protest series continues with a dress rehearsal yesterday and a march today expected to attract 5 000 participants. During the morning demonstration 264 people were arrested as protesters moved toward the induction center. Two counter demonstrators approached, one with an American flag and the other with a sign backing service in Vietnam.

Nationwide protests intensified as about 5,000 protesters were expected in New York City while 264 were arrested at the induction center in a New York rehearsal. Cities may lose road funds over traffic plan delays

Viet Cong massacre kills 121 civilians in Dak Son

Report by UPI cites U.S. officials detailing a Viet Cong assault using flamethrowers and grenades that killed 121 villagers and 47 wounded in the Dak Son East and West hamlets, 74 miles northeast of Saigon near the Cambodian border. An air campaign and gunship actions followed.

Two crashes claim lives on Iowa highways

Two one car accidents on Iowa highways killed Calvin Statler, 45, of Vinton when his car left a county road near Shellsburg and Roy Barton, 60, of Riverton in a one vehicle crash near Sidney. Barton was a passenger in a truck driven by Robert Barton, 39, as cattle shifted on approach to a curve.
