Two in Hospital After Road Crash Near Haskins
Mr and Mrs Floyd Chalcraft of Petersburg Illinois are hospitalized at Washington county hospital after a highway collision on Route 213 two and a half miles north of Haskins. He has six broken ribs and she a broken arm. Their car collided with an Iowa state highway commission truck driven by Ernest Lunow of Washington. The car skidded on a slick spot and veered to the wrong side of the road. Both vehicles were heavily damaged. A separate collision occurred yesterday evening on highway 92 near the Rock Island underpass west of Washington.

Union Band to Play at the County Home
A Musicians' union band from Muscatine Louisa and Washington counties will give a self religious concert at the Washington County Home at 2:30 Sunday Dec 7. Champion Steer Big Boy Sells at 8800 at Livestock Expo
A Shorthorn steer named Big Boy won grand champion at the International Livestock Exposition in Chicago. Owner Claude Millwee, a 15 year old from Fort Cobb Oklahoma, sold the steer to Davidson Beef Co. for about 8800 dollars, or 8 per pound, below last year's 10.50 record. The grand champion price was 61.75 per hundredweight and weather plus a lower standard bid lowered the overall steer carload price. An additional group of 15 Herefords owned by Karl Hoffman fetched about 1024 dollars each average.
