Baby dies at two in hospital in Ainsworth area

Indicted in Des Moines for tax evasion charges
Carl Lykke and Raymond Olsen of Elkhorn Produce Co. were indicted by a federal grand jury in Des Moines on 100 counts charging evasion of about $17,390 in income taxes for 1942 to 1944 and 1943 to 1944. They face arraignment before Judge Gunnard Nordbye with pleas due by February 2.

Employment Service Report for November Iowa Office
The Iowa state employment service office logged 403 persons served in November with 52 new applicants. 24 veterans and eight women among them. There were 118 interviews, 2 received career counseling, 26 of 34 local job referrals and 6 of 10 out of town referrals hired. Employers visited 24 times, 30 additional visits for services and referrals, 33 new orders mostly for women, and 63 active applications at month end including 36 veterans and women.
