Des Moines reports the Iowa Liquor Commission has turned over another $50,000 to the state treasurer, bringing total liquor store profits paid into the general fund to $1,000,000 since the first payment on February 1.
Mrs. Oscar Justus files a $35,000 lawsuit against the Northwestern railroad claiming her husband was killed when a brakeman ordered him to jump from a box car as the train traveled 35 miles an hour near Sioux City.
Carlton Dahlgren, 20, of Clarion, lost his left arm when he reached into a clogged corn shredder at his father’s farm to clear the blockage. The accident occurred while he assisted on the farm, and his arm was severed just above the elbow.
Seven University of Iowa students and a Buffalo New York local cafe owner announced plans for a Hi De Ho dry night club to rival the University of Iowa Silver Shadow. Wilton Lutwack, a student from Buffalo, New York, said the venture will open in January.

Leslie C. Ross of Sidney was named a member of the Iowa state board of parole by Governor Herring. Ross had run against Mrs. Alex Miller in the Democratic primary for secretary of state.
The Monster Christmas Parade plans 300 entries from Washington and nearby counties with Santa leading five divisions at 10 am. A free show at the State theater follows, where 23 cash prizes will be awarded. Santa will visit stores all day as Christmas carols play, and parking is arranged for safety. Washington proclaims itself The Christmas City.
London December 3. Labor efforts to force an immediate Commons showdown over King Edward VIII's plan to marry Mrs Wallis Warfield Simpson were balked. Prime Minister Stanley Baldwin, who warned he would resign with his cabinet and seek abdication if the king persists, declined to speak in the house. He said no statement today and no constitutional difficulty exists at present, deeming further questions imprudent.
Forty Washington county families will be removed from the drouth relief rolls on December 11. They will be turned over to the resettlement administration for status checks to see if they qualify for continued federal funds. An investigation of all WPA causes will be conducted, according to Miss Helen Creswell, county welfare officer.
