Lutherans to Improve Edifice Here
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church of Washington has purchased the Episcopalian building on Second Street. Remodeling starts on a new foundation and to raise the structure by feet with a full basement. A new steeple and bell will be added, and the interior and exterior repainted. Local Lutherans and neighboring churches will assist with basement work and a large congregation has used the chapel as its home since January. Reverend C Melbourn named resident pastor.

Eighteen thousand chickens perished as Monarch Mills hrotier plant near Burlington burned. The blaze consumed all buildings and equipment, with four thousand chicks ready for shipment. No water was available to fight the fire and chemiscall methods were used. Part owner P. E McRean cited limited insurance and total loss of property estimated at twenty thousand dollars.
