Mrs Max Blunent hall, wife of a well known bookmakers, left 4500 dollars worth of diamonds in her room at the Great Northern Hotel yesterday afternoon. On returning they were missing. The notice is part of a string of brief dispatches from Chicago to Evening Journal.
Brakeman Ed Miller was trapped in a moving caboose near De Soto Wisconsin when a lamp exploded and set the car ablaze. He broke a window, crawled to the end, opened the door, and jumped to safety as the train slowed. The caboose burned badly, its trucks left flaming behind the last car.
A planned Rockford double wedding collapsed when groom-to-be Joseph Richens disappeared after removing belongings and was seen at a railroad station at midnight. The couple would have joined Miss Ollie Miner and George Hughes, with Richens missing and motive unknown.
