The New York warship to Havana was ordered to proceed at once and will be the first to enter Havana harbor since the Maine disaster. The movement lacks a stated reason and follows American peace talks in Paris with Gen Merritt on Spanish commercial rights in the West Indies.
John Gross killed his daughter Tillie and then shot himself at his home three miles northeast of Decorah. Tillie wrote his will, transferring her share to her mother, before being assaulted with a club. The brother cried out but was driven away. the gun was later used to finish Gross who burned the will prior to the suicide. The wife escaped. Additional items note a Farmers National Congress boycott in Mason City and Chicago hosting the Methodist Episcopal general conference in 1900, with a $50,000 guaranty. Later, Third Wisconsin pay rolls are to be issued December 5 for several companies.
Egidio Alexander janitor at Deckinson county courthouse joined County Clerk Browning on a hunting trip near Long Lake. After shooting a buck the man leaped onto its back with gathered horns and rode the animal as it bucked wildly. He was thrown against a tree and knocked senseless in Iron Mountain Michigan on December 2.

St Mathews church in St Joseph Michigan held a memorial service for the fiftieth anniversary of Emperor Francis Joseph I of Austria. Attended by the President and cabinet with a High Mass and musical program. Other items note local arson, a fatality in Oakland, Cuban arms purchases, sugar price cut, and Emperor Francis Joseph praising the army.

Don Perrier a young French sailor killed his former sweetheart Jennie Andrews an English girl in New Westminster. He lured her to a room at the Green House and after a piercing scream he opened the door bloodied and holding a knife. The body lay mutilated after life was ended.

Both parties continued separate negotiations amid the search for a final settlement likely to include trade privileges for American vessels in the West Indian trade.
Howard Burnham confessed to stealing money from the Narrow Gauge depot and, indicted by the grand jury, entered a plea of petit larceny. The amount was set at $19.50. Judge Dewey sentenced him to 30 days in county jail with hope of future reform. The public sympathizes with the young man and urges honest conduct post release.
