Twelve killed on state's highways over Thanksgiving weekend
United Press International reports Iowa's Thanksgiving weekend traffic deaths rose to 12. Fairfield couple Lee Chambers, 74, and Dora Chambers, 76, died when their car spun off near Packwood. Sunday crashes claimed Marilyn Firetland, 34, of Goldfield, and a rural Minnesota woman, with Firetland's husband Gaylen injured. Also, Mrs. Marilyn Peterson, 24, of rural Mabel Minnesota, died when her car crashed into a tree as her husband David Peterson, 25, was hospitalized. Weather forewarns continued mild tonight then turning colder with highs in the 40s to 50s.
