At the delinquent tax sale this morning in the office of the county treasurer nine pieces of property that had been advertised were bid in by six persons, receipts totaling 3228.25. The county also hid in five pieces advertised as delinquent for three years. By law, properties advertised three years may be taken by the county if not redeemed or bought privately, with title issued after one year. County Treasurer W. F. Howe adjourned the sale until Jan. 26. remaining properties will be offered then.

Funeral services for Griffith Davies 61 of Crawfordsville are set for two o clock tomorrow at the Crawfordsville Federated church conducted by Rev D K Ford with burial in Crawfordsville cemetery. Davies died shortly after five yesterday morning after a year long illness. He was born September 11 1886 in Wales a son of Wales and Elizabeth Jones Davies and had farmed in Washington county the past 40 years. He married Clara Davis in Columbus Junction in 1913. Surviving are his wife sons Towyn Davies Crawfordsville Trevor Davies Des Moines three grandchildren and two sisters in Wales.

Lost man turned over to brother in Waterloo
James Thomas Brown, 38, held in protective custody after being found wandering near Dewar last Thursday, was released to his brother Albert Brown arriving from Browning Missouri. Authorities traced Brown to Vancouver Canada then Missouri before he was found wandering in a pasture by Dunkerton men. He carried 257 Canadian dollars but could not identify his hometown or destination.
