County Youths Sign for Draft in Washington County
Washington county youths born between August 30 1922 and January 1 1923 filed to register at the new selective service board on the north side of the square as the nation begins its peace time draft. Clerk Mrs Leland Carris and workers Marietta Workman and Mrs E E Ward handled the first registrants at eight this morning. Registrations today were light due to a four month eligibility window and more youths are due tomorrow and Wednesday for those born in 1925. Registration will cover all youths 18 to 25, veterans and non veterans.

Funeral Planned for Four Drowning Victims Near Ottumwa
Ottumwa reports funeral plans for four men, two drowning accidents on the Des Moines River near Ottumwa.
