Turkey Pack to Begin Tuesday at Corn Belt Plant
Processing at the Corn Belt turkey packing plant starts next Tuesday September 2. Manager Don Stutsman says about 50 workers will be employed during the season which runs to Christmas. About 100 ears of dressed turkeys are expected and Stutsman plans to process 30 000 birds himself. Curtis Wells of Washington joins as purchasing agent to contract with local growers.

Divorce Petition Filed by Charles D Hook Against Geraldine Hook
Charles D Hook asks the district court for a decree of divorce from Geraldine F Hook. They married November 20 1945 at Town City and separated June 6 1947. One child, now with the plaintiff’s parents in Brighton, is involved. He seeks custody and household goods, and a ban on using the Hook name after divorce. Attorney Lo Kehoe represents the plaintiff.

Eisenhower urges Legion to prepare for global crisis
General Eisenhower told American Legionnaires the world is divided into dictatorships and democracies and that the United States must prepare for any future war or accidental explosion. He called for universal military training and a strong national military establishment as he retires to become Columbia University president.
