Union Sunday services end with praise and reflection
A large crowd attended the final union Sunday service at the Baptist church auditorium amid light rain. Ten services were held from June 25 through August with seven in Central Park and three indoors. Rev. George Kerr presided. prayers by Kerr and Rev. Milo J. Phillips. Scripture read by Phillips. sermon by Dr. Fred B. Miller titled For He's a Jolly Good Fellow about the good fellow who spurns religion but benefits from the church’s influence.

The navy recruiting station at Burlington reports Kathryn M. Kauffman of the Washington vicinity has enlisted in WAVES and will report to Hunter College in New York soon. Doyle A. Gray of Washington and Eugene T. Crosby of Keota have also enlisted. A recruiter will interview in Washington on Thursday August 31 and regular visits occur every other week.

Rainy cool spell dampens August skies in county
