DES MOINES A company selling insurance against hospital expense began business in Iowa under a temporary license from the Iowa State department of insurance. The Sentinel Hospital Insurance Co. plans to offer Iowans protection against hospital bills similar to plans now sweeping the country used by nearly a half million Americans.
In Des Moines thieves scattered about $15 in change while breaking into two safes at the Loyal Order of Moose club rooms. They tampered with two smaller safes but failed to gain entry. Employee Roy Hartley discovered the robbed area when he arrived for work.
In Des Moines Mrs Dan McClintic a grandmother paid a 15 dollar fine after a judge admonished her for spanking neighbor Mrs Catherine Paul who brought charges. The court scolded Paul for a defiant attitude and heard stories that McClintic’s grandchildren were called brats by Paul.
Word reached that Rev. Thomas F. Cook, pastor of Gospel Center in Keokuk and former Burlington pastor, died while on vacation in Canada. The death occurred during his trip, with details not disclosed. He served evangelical duties locally for years and was known across churches in the region. His passing leaves a void in the community and parish.

Lupt and Mrs J H Peet with daughter Audrey returned yesterday to Cedar Falls after visiting friends here. Doris Klepfer accompanied them home to spend about ten days.
County 4 H club girls study Home Furnishings in the girls room featuring color and design, lamp shades, curtains, shelves, and pillows. Demonstrations start Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. in the M B church during Achievement days with booths set by twelve clubs. Exhibit judging will occur Monday noon with Mrs Edna Rhodes Teeters as judge. nineteen entry classifications include a center piece and at least three items.

GRINNELL IOWA August 21 Judge Dan W Hamilton of Grinnell died this morning in Rochester Minnesota after a long illness He served four terms and part of a fifth as judge of the sixth judicial district A former Democratic member of Congress he held court here for 18 years and earlier was a practicing attorney at Sigourney He leaves several children including daughter Helen who was his court reporter It is expected Governor Herring will appoint a temporary judge with a Democrat likely to win the remaining term in November
G men of the U S department of justice have entered the war on the bank raid menace in Iowa after two bank robberies in as many days. President Robert Turner of the Iowa Bankers Association announced the action.
Kalona missionary Rev. J. F. Perkins will lead the Epworth League at the M. E. church Sunday at 6 30 p m. He brings Indian costumes and will illustrate Indian music. All city youths are invited. the meeting starts promptly due to an evening service.
