Iowa City August 16 The chinch bug a sap feeding pest of the grass family arrived in Iowa in 1846 paralleling Mormon settlement and later caused Iowa record damages in 1887 and 1934 totaling about 25 million dollars each year. It invades Missouri in 1889 and Illinois in 1840. The pest feeds on barley oats wheat rye millet corn and sorghum while avoiding alfalfa clover soybeans flax beets melons and potatoes. Lee Hough of Chester, about two and a half miles southeast of West Chester, died at seven o'clock this morning at the Baker Institute in Muscatine after a long illness. The body was taken to L. A.
