Mrs Sherri Finkbine underwent an abortion in Stockholm to avoid a deformed fetus from thalidomide exposure. The Phoenix mother, denied a U S legal abortion, is resting comfortably at Caroline Hospital after a 45 minute operation. Her husband Robert said medical staff confirmed fetal deformities and plans call for a normal convalescence.

Accident Victim In Critical Condition After Car Collision
A young Illinois schoolteacher struck on highway 218 north of Ainsworth remains in critical condition at University Hospital Iowa City. Maurice Howe, a former State University of Iowa student en route to Illinois to begin teaching, was crossing the road after his car broke down when he was hit by a truck driver and then by another vehicle driven by Dr. Born of Story City.

Funeral Rites Today For Accident Victim
Funeral services for Reta Kay Weymeyer 19 of Muscatine were held in Muscatine with burial at Conesville. She died when the car she rode in left a Louisa County rural road near Grandview. Driver David L Tharp 22 of Grandview was bound over to the grand jury on charges of suspended license operation and manslaughter.
