A column notes Iowa Indians from the Midwest joining Tama tribes for their annual powwow this week. Sunday is highlighted as a big day with visitors from Oklahoma Kansas and Wisconsin arriving as braves wear full regalia for the exhibition war dance.
The Jowa corn crop in north central and northeastern sections faces a serious threat as ear worms and army worms invade. Farmers report poison bran is being used in Floyd and Fayette counties and nearby areas to halt the army worm march, hoping to avert heavy damage within a week or two.

Each group supplied gear shelter provisions and cooking. Matrol Leader Grays boys earned an ornamental hawk feather for their patrol standard. The site Flowing Well west of Wellman hosted five tents and kitchens with a bluff side campfire. The boys returned to Washington shortly after ten this morning.
Rev. Vernon H. Carter announces a denomination picnic in Keota park with churches from Washington county and nearby towns. Morning program includes music and a sermon by Rev. Roy Leeds Ottumwa. lunch at 12 30. afternoon softball and fellowship. Participants include Brighton Kalona Keota Washington Pleasant Hill Coppock Richland and likely Strourney and nearby towns.
In Baton Rouge fights erupted in the gallery and chamber of the lower Louisiana House after Huey Longs majority barred the press from sessions. A photographer was slugged, a reporter helped him, and two scuffles were separated on the floor.

The Iowa National Guard Troop F 113th Cavalry will train at Camp Dodge for two weeks. A special Rock Island train carries sixty troopers and three officers plus cook Scrubby Swing, arriving around nine in the morning. Only two men cannot go, Dale Fuhr and Bill Kern.

New York August 18 325000 additional workers were voted last night by the United Textile Workers of America to strike in woolen and worsted rayon and synthetic industries. Delegates left the timing of a cotton textile strike to the executive committees with 500000 workers affected and silk and rayon industries to be decided later.
Chicago on August 18 reports prices for hogs remained steady after a surge that lifted hoe prices last month. Prices hovered around 6.65 per hundred, receipts reached 7,000, and trading was dull as the market paused after the weekend.
Des Moines Iowa promised the coolest weekend since mid July as showers spread across sections of the state and temperatures declined. A three inch rain was unofficially reported at Leon with Creston recording the heaviest federal shower of 2.5 inches as water was shipped from Council Bluffs to feed the city reservoir. Maximums yesterday reached 90 in several cities and a 54 degree low was noted at Ft Dodge.
