Wellman group readies ambulance service launch in Wellman
Wellman officials plan a non profit emergency ambulance service financed by 21550 in donations. A 15475 van from Foster Coach Sales will serve as the unit housed at city hall with seven EMT volunteers led by Jack Dillon and three doctors. The service begins August 23 and will charge calls to recoup costs while linking with the Hoover Health region.

Three Die In Ottumwa Park Car Crash
An Ottumwa couple James M. Lane 83 Mabel B. Lane 78 and son Kenneth E. Lane 40 died in an apparent drowning when their car left a park road and plunged into a lagoon. Autopsy planned for James Lane to determine if a heart attack caused the crash. The vehicle went about 50 feet from shore into roughly 10 feet of water before being recovered.
