Paul, now 22, was a former Washington resident known to local residents.
Tokio dispatch reports American swimmers flipped over at their backs to break the world record and win three of six finals. The writer notes hot weather and many mosquitos during the American tour, with a comment comparing past Japanese performance.
Hog prices surged on national markets with light receipts and a drought effect. Roy Marr of Davenport was injured Monday night when his car wrecked on the Sandy Hook hill near Brighton. Simultaneously New York textile workers agreed to call a strike before September 1 with 300000 represented.
J W Lenker and Pau Moore former leaders in Cedar county cow war were released on parole after forty days of a three year term. Warden Glenn Haynes escorted them from the state prison. The same official had arrested them during his Iowa National Guard service for conspiracy to thwart bovine TB testing law enforcement.
Des Moines dispatch reports sheriffs and deputies patrolled Western Iowa highways hunting George Baby Face Nelson former Dillinger ally public enemy No 1. Federal detectives traced him from California through Salt Lake City and Denver. He is said to travel with four brunettes in trousers and a stolen Cadillac coupe.
Des Moines August 16 release of Chickasaw, Kossuth, Monroe, West Pottawattamie, Story, and Jasper counties from suspension of corn-hog benefit payments was recommended by John Wilson Jr in charge of the federal survey in Iowa. The survey passed the halfway mark with 53 of 100 county districts now recommended for release. Leslie M Carl, chairman of the Iowa state board of review, announced.
