Washington Fire Dept Hosts Water Fight at County Fair
The Washington fire department will host water-fighting teams from about 20 towns Sunday afternoon with both men’s and women’s teams competing. Registration starts 1 30 p m at the county fairgrounds and competition begins at 2 p m. The public is invited to watch and the Washington Squirts will run a concession stand.

Tornadoes devastate three trailer parks in Largo Florida
Two tornadoes struck the Westgate Lees and Kings Manor mobile home parks in Largo during dinner hour injuring at least 15 people and killing one elderly woman. More than 30 mobile homes were destroyed and about 100 damaged across two square miles, with damage estimated over 500000 dollars by Sheriff Bill Roberts. Residents recalled violent shaking and strange sights as debris flew through the air.

Cycle crash injures Larry Kientz in Washington
A Brighton man, Larry A. Kientz, 28, was injured when his motorcycle collided with a pickup at North 7th Avenue and East 2nd Street in Washington. Witness Rhonda Stalder said the pickup driven by Joseph H. Walsh, 58, stopped but could not avoid the crash. Kientz suffered leg injuries and was transported to the county hospital. no charges had been filed.

New policy charges car owners for fire calls in Washington
Washington officials unveiled a policy billing car owners for fire protection when vehicle fires occur. The first bill went to Mrs. Charles Goodell after Perdock Motors vehicle fire at her home. The city billed $100 for the fire truck and $4 for each of 21 firefighters. Insurance representatives indicated firms might cover such expenses. The policy would apply to all vehicle fires and was not known to be used elsewhere at this time.
