Mt Simon storage project approved by FPC in Iowa field
Natural Gas Pipeline Company of America says the FPC has authorized development of a Mt Simon underground storage reservoir in the Columbus City field, Louisa County Iowa. The project could store over 50 billion cu ft of gas, with testing injecting about 2 billion cu ft and costs around 2.5 million dollars. Construction includes 11 miles of lines eight wells and three deeper wells, with completion expected by year end and injections starting this fall. The Cairo Mt Simon formation nearby may also store over 50 billion cu ft upon completion, enhancing regional gas capacity.
