Fri day noon blaze leveled the 36 year old Grundy Center theater that had a three year modernization. Damage listed at 12000 with 10000 in force insurance. John Marshall, ex Des Moines operator, placed origin in the basement. Owner Frank Rubel, also a Des Moines native, owned the property.

Dawson County official pleads not guilty in manslaughter case
Adel George Benson of Dawson Iowa Dallas County supervisor pleaded not guilty Friday at arraignment on manslaughter and driving while intoxicated charges. The case stems from an auto crash last Saturday injuring Harry Lane of Perry who died Tuesday from pneumonia linked to those injuries. Benson is free on $6000 bond.
