Two Washington men, Dennis Wolfe and John Finke, are listed in serious condition at Iowa City University Hospitals after their car left a county road two miles south of Victor on Saturday morning. Ronald Greiner of Des Moines is in good condition at a Marengo hospital, and Larry Miller of Cedar Rapids was treated and released. No charges were filed.

Former State Senator Thaler Sentenced in Treasury Bill Case
Seymour R. Thaler, a former New York State Senate member and later a Supreme Court justice, was sentenced to one year in federal prison and fined 10,000 for perjury and involvement in selling 800,000 in stolen U S Treasury bills. He was convicted March 23 with Herbert R. Jacobs and Michael P. Lavelle. The defense contended the bills were unknown to be stolen. Washington also reported Navy plans to allow women to apply for sea duty in nearly all noncombat shipboard roles, expanding opportunities beyond nursing and medical posts.
