Hazel Deal of Washington used a ladder to harvest a 17 inch cucumber dubbed a Silly Pickle that grew by her porch roof on a trellis. She reports the cucumbers taste good and plans to eat them.
The Washington 4 H club will not sell sweet corn to RAGBRAI riders Friday due to spoiled carloads from Monday. They still seek donations of ears and ask to contact the W County Extension office or Julia Gamon at home.
