Break-ins were reported this morning at Washington Transfer, Waggoner Welding, and Wilson Concrete. Washington Transfer had a broken window with about 100 dollars missing plus a drill and pry bar. the safe combination was drilled but not opened. Waggoner Welding had no reported losses. Wilson Concrete had no early missing items. Dennis Lampe and Deanna Bohr of Lime Creek Livewires 4-H showed top market beer entries at the Washington County Fair with Lampe winning grand champion and Deanna reserve championship around 2 p.m.

Bike riders reach Des Moines Tuesday SAGBRAI note
SAGBRAI in Des Moines drew about 2,200 riders after two days of camping and free food and drinks. Des Moines resident John Karras joked the group knew they were in Des Moines because beer cost 60 cents a can. The riders started in Council Bluffs with 2,000 cyclists, adding 200 in two days, en route 67 miles to Marshalltown with a Mississippi River dip planned in Dubuque on Saturday.
