Jim Ossman judged best swine carcass at the Washington County 4 H and FFA Fair. About 100 spectators viewed entries at Bath Packing Plant in Columbus Junction. Of 56 carcasses, 22 met length and back fat, 11 certified for loin eye size. Champion weighed 157 lb from 216 lb hog, 29.9 in long, 1.17 in backfat, loin eye 5.05 sq in, yield 72.69%. Sue Jones placed second with a 138 lb carcass, 29.8 in, 1.03 in backfat, loin eye 4.72 sq in, yield 72.63%.

Two Trucks Collide At Corner Here Today
A dairy delivery truck from G H Dairy driven by Don Curtis of Washington collided with a gravel truck driven by Larry Reiling of Winthrop at the North 6th and East 11th corner at 7 50 this morning. Curtis sustained a scalp wound requiring stitches but was not seriously hurt. The Curtis truck damaged the Loeffler home and caused about 75 dollars in damage. The gravel truck suffered about 400 dollars in damage.
