Iowa to Issue Half-Size 1943 Plates Save Steel
Des Moines reports 1943 trailer and motorcycle plates will be half-size to conserve steel. 94,825 trailer plates and 4,500 motorcycle plates are ordered from Anamosa reformatory for next year. Public safety commissioner Karl Fischer notes stickers will replace plates for autos and trucks, while cars and trucks keep 1942 plates. Stickers mount on windshields.

County Dairy Leaders Honor Lueder at Picnic
Sixty three DHIA members and families attended the annual judging contest and picnic of the dairy association in Washington County on Wednesday August 5. The event also served as a farewell to Alvin J Lueder after 64 years as supervisor. Morning farm visits included the Washington County farm and the E P Hayes farm with Holstein and Guernsey judging. A noon picnic at Sunset Park preceded an afternoon program led by A L Duensing featuring Floyd Johnston Ames 4 H members and performances by the Headliners 4 H Club.
