Washington Hustlers 4-H Club topped the Washington County Fair herdsmanship awards for 1975 with Crooked Creek Cyclones and Jackson Boys 4-H clubs taking second and third in livestock across three or more divisions. Premiums of sixty dollars were given by the Washington County Farm Bureau and Farm Bureau Insurance to top clubs.

In Raleigh North Carolina UPI reports attorney William Kunstler was found in contempt of court and jailed for two hours after a heated exchange with Judge Hamilton H Hobgood during the Joan Little murder trial. He was removed to Wake County jail and later returned.
