Fourth driest July in 101 years in Washington

The Evening Journal notes July 1975 was the fourth driest since records began 101 years ago, with only .45 inch of rain and a normal of 4.02 inches. Jim Frier reports corn conditions deteriorating from drought, shallow roots, and poor pollination, while planting in some fields is heavier than average and struggling without rain. Comparisons show 1886, 1913, and 1923 as especially dry Julys, and the two month June-July totals confirm 1886 as the all time driest period.
