Two Men Die In Iowa Train Crash Near Des Moines
An afternoon freight train derailment five miles east of Des Moines killed two men. Conductor BEV McAvoy of Silvis Illinois and rear brakeman P C Furlong of Moline Illinois died when the caboose plunged down an embankment. Authorities opened an investigation into the derailment of the caboose and a remaining freight car as the track was cleared.
