Decoration Day and Fourth of July Observed on Weekend
Decoration Day will be observed in this city on Saturday with the committee arranging the program. Memorial Day services will be held by churches on Sunday. The Fourth of July is expected to be celebrated on Saturday as well, with some residents likely observing both Saturday and Monday.
Funeral for Mrs Maynard Held at Residence
At 845 o clock this morning funeral services for Mrs Maynard were conducted by Rev Washburn and Rev Stark. Friends gathered at the residence then followed the remains to Rock Island station for interment at Elm Grove cemetery Mt Pleasant. Wm Bongert suffered a left arm fracture and shoulder bruises from a roof fall yesterday. He remains unable to work but is progressing.

Cider sample sent for testing in pending court case
A sample of hard cider seized at John Zeigler's restaurant was sent to Fairfield for testing by an expert chemist this morning. The alcohol content will influence the case presented in court. Curt Wells shipped fine horses to Pennsylvania and Martin Stewart sent two hog loads over the Narrow Gauge.
