Federal and Iowa officials survey Mississippi flood area

State and federal leaders including Gov. Harold Hughes plan aerial surveys along Iowa's Mississippi border as the river nears crest stage. Windstorm Ravages Washington County Farms and Homes

Strong winds and heavy rain raked northern Washington County causing major damage. Farms near Riverside Kalona Wellman and Wellman area sustained ruined barns sheds damaged roofs and livestock losses. Turkeys were killed and many residents lost power as trees and telephones were down.

Tokyo Leftists Rally in Violent Demonstration Near Embassy

More than 25 000 left wing students and workers marched through central Tokyo in clashes with riot police near the American Embassy. Police arrested at least 21 and injures were reported as protests against U S policy in Vietnam surged. The event drew support from the Socialist party and Sohyo Labor Federation with Buddhist monks among the crowd.

North Vietnamese Regular Unit Fights in South Vietnam

Parrish to Build Gas System in Ainsworth

Construction company of Ellsworth Kansas selected to build the natural gas system in Ainsworth. Announcement by C T Johnson district manager for Iowa Southern Utilities says work starts May 10 with completion by August 1 1965. The contract covers about 52000 feet of piping, 125 customer service extensions, 260 feet of lateral line and 1400 feet of distribution lines.
