Washington High School drama department presented Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit Friday night to a small crowd but with strong praise for the serious one room play. Four actors Bob Helscher Jan Heaton Christine Campbell and Karen Grubb delivered convincing portrayals of Vincent Cradeau Inez Seranno Estelle Delauney and the chambermaid under director Jamie Martin with extensive backstage support from Patricia Worley Joanna Showman Jon Turnipseed Carl Hays Larry Chalupa Lannie Leon and others.

Storm damage across Illinois as tornadoes lash plains
Tornadoes and vicious winds cut a wide swath through Illinois early today injuring seven people and toppling a dormitory chimney at Aledo. In Dubuque Iowa heavy rain and high winds push the Mississippi toward a crest of 26.6 feet as levees sag and towns flood. About 1000 people flee homes in Dubuque and East Dubuque while volunteers and a bulldozer shore up dikes and sandbags along a widening crisis 60 miles upstream and 100 miles downstream.
