Burlington Fred Stimpson 57 a welder died Sunday forenoon from injuries after his car collided with a Ucher machine at a downtown street corner. Joseph Lee 42 who was with Stimpson told police Stimpson had stopped his car and was half outside the vehicle repairing the windshield wiper when he was struck by another car.

Funeral services for Mrs. Prank R. Sage will be held in Des Moines at Dunn funeral home at ten oclock Wednesday. She was active in the Baptist church PL O society and local women’s groups. She leaves her husband of Des Moines, two sons Robert of Galveston Texas and Norman of Iowa City, and three sisters.

Navy denies sinking of Ranger carrier in North Atlantic

Washington dispatch reports Lt. Gen. Lesley J. McNair commander of U S ground forces was severely wounded by shell fragments in Tunisia last Friday. A helmet penetration caused a scalp wound and another fragment injured his shoulder. he will be withdrawn from the front within a day or so and likely return to the United States for further treatment.

Robert L. Duncan a leading Cotter citizen died Sunday at his home after a heart attack two weeks earlier and a subsequent fatal attack. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 PM in the Ainsworth Methodist Church with Rev. F. J. Robins presiding, burial in Ainsworth Cemetery. Duncan, born Oct 30 1869 in Union township, Louisa county, had served as Cotter mayor and school district treasurer and was a town council member. He was twice married, to Olive E. Clegg and Ella Crawford, who survives him, along with three brothers and Mrs. J. F. Nellis of Aberdeen, SD.

Vern Moss and Louis Beranek of Riverside clash at the Yatton corner south of Riverside. Moss and his daughter Marilyn were injured and taken to University hospital in Iowa City. Beranek pleaded guilty to failing to stop and was fined eight dollars and forty five cents. Later, near Wellman, Gus Sehram and Everett Bell crashed four miles west of Wellman with $250 damage but no injuries.
