The Lincoln school is adding two new wings measuring 44 by 65 feet each funded by a $160,000 bond issue. Excavation is done and footings poured this week for a basementless expansion to provide four more classrooms per grade building. Completion is targeted before January 1, 1952 with Carson Plumbing and a Perry firm handling plumbing and electrical work respectively.

Emergency crews reinforced dikes as the Mississippi flood crested upstream threatening Davenport Rock Island Moline and Muscatine. About 225 000 residents live in the quad cities 1 400 families evacuated 1 000 workers idled and four national guard units on duty as 100 volunteers sought for a dike across the river from Muscatine. Izaak Walton League Meets of Riverside Dinner Event
Eighty members and guests of the Izaak Walton League Riverside chapter attended a dinner at Riverside Methodist church. Seven new members were welcomed. Dr. Martin of the State University of Iowa spoke on mushroom varieties and safety. The group discussed Kids' Mish Day Derby for May 28 at Crooked Creek south of Washington. They voted to send one adult and one boy to a wildlife school in Vinton June 21–23. Conservation officers reported on Lake Aries park opening for summer recreation but no fishing. New book Fish and Fishing in Iowa by Jim Harlan and associates was introduced. Next meeting will be a father and son banquet at St James social hall on May 28. Dinner was prepared by Riverside church women.
