Death of Mrs Mary Ellen Marsh 82 in Kalona area
Mrs. Mary Ellen Marsh aged 82 died at 9 30 am at the home of a daughter about a mile and a half east of Wellman after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be at 3 pm Sunday at the Christian Church in Kalona with Rev Virgil Fox presiding. burial in Richmond cemetery. She was born August 16 1862 near Kalona daughter of James T and Catherine Randel and lived in English River township. Surviving are daughter Mrs L R Lemley son BF Marsh four grandchildren five great grandchildren two sisters Mrs David Stumpf and Mrs Alma Rogers, with four brothers and two sisters deceased.

State Will Pay Seven Millions Road Bonds
Sanford Zeigler Jr, chairman of the Town highway commission, told Gov. De Riine that Iowa will pay 7,586,259.50 in road bonds and interest on May 1. The payment includes 531,250.50 in semiannual interest and 7,055,000 for bond retirement, leaving about 3.5 million outstanding for retirement by 1950. The bonds were issued by counties in the early 1920s backed by a portion of the state highway tax and motor vehicle licenses.
