Washington Junior High Spring Concert Set for April 25
The Washington Junior High Music Department will present its annual Spring Concert on Monday April 25 at 7 30 p m in the Washington Junior High Gymnasium. Performers include the 7th 8th and 9th grade choruses and Band Band Band A. Admission is free. A YWCA membership drive ended with an open house drawing 45 attendees. The drive netted 59 renewals and 14 new memberships bringing total to about 700. Donations totaling 380 were also received. Carol Hartig and Theresa Tam chaired the committee.

Snow and storm warnings sweep central west to Appalachians
Snow fell in Wyoming and South Dakota while thunderstorms spread from the eastern Great Plains into the southern Appalachians and upper Great Lakes Monday night. Local 159 of the International Molders and Allied Workers Union ratified a two year contract with McQuay Perfex Inc ending a five week strike at the Perfex Plant in Washington. The agreement provides a 22.7 percent average wage rise over two years plus enhanced benefits. 180 production workers will return to start the first shift Wednesday.

Jeff Schoonover Wins State Music Campship Award
Jeff Schoonover a Washington High junior from Iowa City has won a state music campship by the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs. He will attend Wartburg College in July for the Summer Piano Workshop and has nine years of piano study plus extensive involvement with school and church choirs. In 11th grade he remains accompanist for the Concert Choir and Chorus and recently earned 1976 All-State Choir selection. The estate of Chicago Cubs owner Philip K Wrigley valued at 60.3 million dollars was filed in Cook County Probate Court after his death last week.
