A roof fire at Mrs. C. O. Bailey’s East Washington street home was extinguished by the fire department around 1 45 this afternoon with little damage. Chemicals were used to put out the blaze. The fire started in the roof valley where wooden shingles under asbestos shingles likely caught from chimney sparks.

Firemen Entertained At Phillips and Hebner Store
Phillips and Hebner invited the fire department to a party at their drug store at eight last night. Fire trucks arrived drawing a crowd as onlookers expected a blaze but found a reception in progress and a lunch of ice cream and cake.
