Fritz Tavern Burglaries Mark Second Break-In This Week
Washington police report Mike Fritz owner of the Fritz tavern on North Fourth Avenue said thieves burglarized the premises twice in one week. About 500 dollars were taken from pool and pinball machines in the early morning break-in between 2:30 and 8:00. A separate Wednesday night burglary was reported with no amount listed.

Judge golfers away from Polk County court duties

Look Back to the Hill receives Easter plaudits at Mennonite church
The Washington Mennonite church staged Look Back to the Hill an imaginative Easter drama by a cast of fifteen amateurs. Performances continue Easter weekend at 8 00 pm with free will offerings. The play weaves playlets around the Crucifixion showing daily life of plain people near the event and afterward. It was praised for its moving characters gentle humor and strong subject matter. The director Mrs Wesley Widmer called it her favorite and the production was lauded as one of the churchs best.
